Growing up in Kingston Jamaica during the golden age of dancehall
in the 1990’s, Bankay’s love affair with music began. The original ’sound system’
culture was a catalyst for him to choose a career in music and entertainment. Bankay has been djing professionally for over a decade with increasing popularity and success during that time, playing at all the major festivals in Jamaica (Dream Weekend,
Sumfest and Jamaica’s Carnival to name a few) Bankay built a demand for his style of music presentation that successfully fuses high energy EDM, Dancehall/Reggae, Soca and Hip Hop into a seamless open format style that keeps everyone moving on the dance floor all night long. Bankay has opened for some of the biggest names in the business - Major Lazer, Diplo, Skrillex, Chuckie, Dj Snake, Martin Garrix, Bob Sinclar, Cash Cash to name a few.
Kamal Bankay's debut music production is a 2017 remake of the Bob Marley mega-hit
“Could You Be Loved” performed by Bob’s daughter Cedella Marley and Savi.
The release on Armada Records was featured in TIME magazine and has garnered
over 800,000 plays on Spotify. Additionally, being one of the most reknowned event
producers in the Caribbean, Bankay has the unique persepctive of organizing the events and simultaneously djing music, which gives a special advantage. This creates an organic connection with the patrons in attendance and makes for one great party with a
guaranteed focus on delivering the best musical vibe anywhere he shows up...
