Baptiste Giabiconi is a French model and pop singer. Prior to beginning his modeling career in Paris, the Marseilles native was working as a mechanic at a helicopter plant when it was suggested he create a portfolio. After signing with a respected agency in New York in 2008, he quickly became one of the most in-demand male models, working frequently with German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who established Giabiconi as the face of Chanel, among other major lines. In 2010, he made his musical debut with the electro-pop single "Showtime." Claiming influences like David Bowie and Depeche Mode as well as contemporary artists like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, he worked with producer Pete Boxta Martin in London to create his 2012 debut LP Oxygen. Recorded mostly in English, the album mixed contemporary pop and R&B with electronic elements and debuted at number one on the French album charts. That same year, he contributed a track to a tribute album for French musical icon Jean-Jacques Goldman. Continuing to juggle his modeling career with his musical pursuits, he took a creative turn away from big-budget contemporary pop on his 2014 sophomore LP, Un Homme Libre, which relied more on acoustic guitar and subtle, classic pop arrangements. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
