Barak Mori is a distinguished jazz double bassist and composer whose musical journey spans continents and genres. After formative years in Israel’s leading music programs and nearly two decades on the New York scene, he has become a trusted musical partner for artists such as Avishai Cohen, Madeleine Peyroux, Eric Reed, and Peter Cincotti, among many others. His work as a sideman and collaborator keeps him active across international stages, while his own projects continue to evolve through cross-border collaborations with top improvisers and songwriters. As a composer, his music reflects a deep sensitivity to harmony, rhythm, and the spaces between notes, and has been performed in venues and festivals worldwide. Since returning to Israel in the mid-2010s, Mori has been based between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, dividing his time between performing, composing, and teaching as a faculty member at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Always with the double bass at the center, he shapes the sound from the ground up - lyrical, grounded, and intense when it needs to be.
