Led by twins Bebe and Oona Sun Cutter, Toronto/Montreal-based indie rock band Bebe and Oona merge a melodic post-punk aesthetic with artful songcraft, visceral lyrics, propulsive grooves and irresistible pop hooks. Their effortless musical sync recalls rock’s best sister acts (HAIM, Breeders, The Beaches), but their sound is all their own. Fierce Bebe sends hearts jumping from chests with a huge, emotionally-expressive voice, underscored with emphatic guitar crunch. Raised in a musical household by a Taiwanese-Chinese-American mom and Anglo-American dad, Bebe and Oona have made music together forever but formed their band--including drummer Rylan Foley and guitarist Dylan Padfield--at Toronto’s Etobicoke School of the Arts. With graduation scattering the band between Toronto, Boston and Montreal, they play frequent hometown shows while growing connections beyond.
