BELGRAVE is a 27 year old singer songwriter, performer and curator. He creates dark melancholy pop noir with chorus’ laced in nostalgia and grandeur. A former tailor on Savile Row, he has made London his home. He grew up on the music of Freddie Mercury, George Michael and Elton John; big voices with big songs. “I have always been drawn to grand, powerful, emotive songs, wherever they come from and am just as happy spending the night listening to Radiohead, Rachmaninoff and sometimes the occasional 80’s power ballad. I am also constantly inspired by the growing world of independently minded artists forging their own paths, from the beautiful and aching tones of Serpentwithfeet's soul laced neo-gospel to Stefflon Don's unbending attitude and style. It’s an exciting time for artists who don't want to stick to the norm.”
About ‘Riviera’ - the first track taken from his forthcoming EP:
“Riviera was inspired by a sample we found of singing from Inner Mongolia. I have always been fascinated by music that I cannot comprehend or understand, and she sings in a way that sounds completely otherwordly to me. Once I heard the vocal sample, the song fell into place around it with little effort, in the way that all the my favourite songs do.”
