Belmez Faces

Defined by moody soundscapes, sinister imagery, and deeply evocative vocals, Belmez Faces is a neo-goth/electro-pop duo based in Seattle, WA.  Given they borrow their name from a paranormal phenomenon in which mysterious faces appear in concrete, it’s no surprise that their sound trends towards the otherworldly.  Bleak and poetic, they are reinventing the goth aesthetic for the modern era.
 
Belmez Faces is made up of Royce Thompson and Steve Hilmes.  Both longtime members of the Tacoma based band A Thousand, they formed their duo to explore their mutual interest in the darker side of music.  After years of experimentation, they made their official debut in 2020 with the EP ‘Absent Grief.’  With 80’s inspired drum machines and synths supporting Royce’s charismatic presence, the EP served as a perfect introduction to the duo.
 
In 2021, Belmez Faces took a major artistic step forward with the full length ‘This Is The Dark Timeline,’ which introduced a newfound pop sensibility to their sound.  Driven by lead single ‘Santa Carla,’ the album was the pair’s first to find an international audience.
 
In a world of instant gratification, Belmez Faces offer an appealing alternative - a thought provoking sound that reveals new layers with every listen.
