Probably the biggest Basque-language band ever, Berri Txarrak are an alternative rock band who released 9 studio albums and performed more than 1,000 shows all over the world. Founded in 1994 in Lekunberri (Navarre) by Gorka Urbizu (vocals, guitar) and Aitor Goikoetxea (drums), Aitor Oreja (guitar) and Mikel López (bass) joined later to form the original lineup until 2004. The band then underwent some lineup changes, finally becoming a power trio with David Gonzalez (bass) and Galder Izagirre (drums) along with founder member and main composer Urbizu. Berri Txarrak (which means Bad News) has worked with legendary producers such as Steve Albini, Ross Robinson or Bill Stevenson / Jason Livermore and among their collaborations you'll find artists as Tim McIlrath (Rise Against) or Matt Sharp (The Rentals, Weezer). The trio went on hiatus in 2019 and released a critically acclaimed documentary in 2021 called 'DARDARA', directed by Marina Lameiro.
