How to describe Beyond The Barricade?
Metalcore, mental health, female vocalist and some eastereggs, because those are fun. Heavy music with heavy topics, served on a plate with colourful outfits, a lot of love and a dash of not taking ourselves to seriously on the side.
The band plays traditional metalcore with elements from a lot of other genres. The lyrics revolve around themes such as mental health, feelings of being lost, hitting rock bottom and of injustice, but also hope and healing. And of course love. BTB find it important that everyone can talk about these feelings regardless of gender and identity.
"A Place Called Home" displays this in an honest and personal way, through melody and lyrics. Kajsa Sivertsen, the bands vocalist, delivers brutal screams, low growls and soft notes on top of breakdowns, heavy riffing and catchy choruses. In a genre dominated by growling men Kajsa reminds us that women have had to growl loud and
for long to be heard, and she is being heard! Beyond The Barricade stand together to talk about difficult emotions and fight injustice.
