Bigbang is one of Norway’s most beloved and enduring rock bands. Led by singer, guitarist, and songwriter Øystein Greni, the Oslo-based trio has been a defining presence in Norwegian music since the early ’90s. Known for their electrifying live shows and emotionally charged songs, Bigbang has built a reputation as a true rock’n’roll band — raw, melodic, and timeless.
Formed in 1992, they emerged from Oslo’s underground scene and gained national attention with the 2000 single “Girl from Oslo.” The song became a Top 5 hit, and the album Clouds Rolling By reached No. 2 on the charts. Since then, Bigbang has released a string of acclaimed albums, including Frontside Rock’n’Roll, Radio Radio TV Sleep, and Too Much Yang.
Despite lineup changes, Greni has remained the creative core, blending classic rock influences with soul, punk, and pop. Longtime bandmates Olaf Olsen (drums) and Nikolai Hængsle (bass/keys) have been essential to their signature sound.
After a move to Los Angeles, Bigbang recorded albums like Edendale and Epic Scrap Metal, staying true to their roots while expanding their sound. Their latest releases, Glory Chord (2019) and Le Californie (2023), show a band still evolving — atmospheric, soulful, and unmistakably Bigbang.
