Birch

Birch saw the light of day in may this years. He felt like it was time to release something on his own after focusing on his band Travel with the sun for awhile. When twisting up folk traditions with singer/ songwriter spirit, melancholic lyrics and large soundscapes he feels more true to himself than ever before. Hailing from Dalstorp in Sweden he began playing guitar at the age of 9 and music was then forever on his mind. The name Birch comes from his last namn Björk(lund) which translates to Birch in english.


After years of writing followed by intense recording sessions he released the singles ”I’ll be fine”, ”Truth” and "Dry Lungs" in 2019, earning positive receptions from blogs like A&R Factory and mp3hugger.


The release of the debut EP "Kite" is a taste of what's to come, in the realm of the likes of Bon Iver, Matt Corby and James Bay Kite draws the listener into an emotional rollercoaster from naked stripped down guitar intros to choral outbursts, the narrative vocal performance conveys inner crisis, hope for tomorrow and being there for the ones you love.
