Beijing-based trio Birdstriking blend textural shoegaze with spirited, often cathartic indie rock. The group met at a gig by Chinese art rock group <a href="spotify:artist:2i5bwPD09MrIvqM2LzKix5">Carsick Cars</a> in 2009 and began playing together shortly after. Their ambitious and passionate sound attracted the attention of Beijing's <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Maybe+Mars+Records%22">Maybe Mars Records</a>, who signed them in 2010. Their self-titled debut album was released in China to critical acclaim in 2012. Over the next few years the album would receive an Australian release and eventually come out in the U.S. via <a href="spotify:artist:6FBGg3WVGPtpIbfmnkYBNS">Anton Newcombe</a>'s <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22A+Recordings%22">A Recordings</a> label.
