Formed in 2022, Black Idol is a five-piece progressive metal band based in Belgrade, Serbia. Their music is characterized by dynamic compositions, intricate arrangements, and emotionally profound themes, drawing inspiration from a diverse array of influences, including Porcupine Tree, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Deftones, Leprous, Tesseract and Karnivool.

Black Idol's latest single "Thespian" was listed as one of the best regional singles of 2025 by Balkanrock, while their single "Son of No Desire" won third place in the On The Music Waves - International Music Contest, both from their debut EP "Woes are Legion". The mixing and mastering of the whole EP was done by the engineers from Fascination Street Studios in Sweden, known for their work with bands such as Leprous, Opeth, Katatonia and Devin Townsend.

The band’s roots trace back to Kruševac, where founding members Aleksa (vocals) and Uroš (guitar) played together in various bands since elementary school. Driven by their shared passion for music, particularly progressive metal, they relocated to Belgrade, where they connected with drummer Timur, bassist Vasily, and guitarist Aleksandar in 2023.
