Blackbird Blackbird is the artist moniker of Mikey Maramag, a musician, songwriter, producer, and DJ.
Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area he learned piano, drums, and guitar at an early age before eventually writing and producing original electronic music. Mikey credits creating music as being vital for the healing process after he suffered the sudden loss of his Father.
Since 2010, Maramag has written & recorded several albums, EPs, and singles, including multiple releases on famed San Francisco label, OM Records.
He exploded onto the underground indie-electronic scene via short-but-sweet singles like “Pure” and “Ups & Downs” during the blog heyday of 2010—these first singles landed him on the radar of Pitchfork, who was an early supporter. Maramag then launched a career rooted in underground electronic music, putting his education at University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) on pause and moving to Oakland, CA where he started his pursuit of music full-time. Blackbird Blackbird was hatched.
Meshing dance floor grooves, guitar tones, rich synth sounds and textures and infectious vocal melodies Blackbird Blackbird has toured globally over the past decade in addition to releasing several albums, EPs, and singles.
