When the COVID-19 lockdown cost him his job, South Florida-born, Chicago-based rapper Blvck Svm decided to release a series of biweekly singles as a last-ditch effort to jumpstart his music career. The first single of that series, “bleach,” released March 2020, caught fire a few months after its release and completely changed his trajectory. Nearly 5 years later, Svm is now a full-time rapper constantly sharpening his understated, cerebral style.
In November 2024 he released his food-focused debut album, “michelinman,” accompanied by a video series titled “Bvck of House” which found him filming live performances in 14 restaurant kitchens across 11 North American cities. This year he’ll be collaborating with several restaurants throughout North America and Europe on a dinner party series to further promote his debut album and highlight the intersection of high-end food and rap music.
