Breton are a London-based indie music collective with a focus on D.I.Y. culture, multimedia, and audio/visual experimentalism. Founding members Roman Rappak and Adam Ainger first began playing together in 2007 and were later joined by Ian Patterson and Daniel McIlvenny when the group set up shop in a South East London warehouse they named BretonLABS. In addition to writing and recording their own urban-electronic and dub-influenced rock music, the bandmembers involved themselves in a variety of outside collaborations, creating short films, remixing other artists like Tricky and Lana Del Rey, and directing music videos for bands like Penguin Prison and Newlsland. This collaborative artistic spirit is at the core of the band's aesthetic. Beginning with 2010's Practical EP, they released three more EPs before signing with Fat Cat Records, which issued Breton's debut LP, Other People's Problems, in 2012. Though the band spent much of that year on tour, the prolific musicians managed to release two more EPs in 2013. When their London space became designated for demolition, Breton moved their operations to Berlin in 2013 to record their follow-up LP, War Room Stories, which was released in early 2014. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
