Brett Conlin & The Midnight Miles are a Bloomington/Normal, IL based roots/punk band. The band consists of Conlin, Chris Whitacre (Karat’s Gold), Chris Golwitzer (Werepire Day, First Grade Crush, Winder), Gary Nass, and Ian Sheridan (Karat’s Gold). In a whirlwind of catchy melodies and carefully crafted words, these four bring a desperately needed energy back into the world of existential and socially observant sing-alongs. They are currently working on their debut EP, due sometime in 2020.
Like many of his songwriting colleagues, Conlin started off playing in punk rock bands, and eventually burned himself out. Re-emerging years later, he found a home underneath the americana/alt-country umbrella before slowly evolving into the self-reflecting persona he holds dear today. Much of the newer material is steering back toward those punk roots, but with a new found maturity in the way he navigates telling a story. Citing influences from bands like The Gaslight Anthem, The Replacements, Husker Du, Drive-By Truckers and Bruce Springsteen, they can be easily adored by anyone who feels like they, too, have a song in their heart to shout out. At their live shows this all combines into a shot of heartland rock and melodic punk chased with hard hitting lyrics to drown all of our collective sorrows in solidarity.
