BRRDS is husband-and-wife duo Dave & Kerrie Hughes. Purveyors of lush, haunting synth pop, they took their name from a software programme developed in 1986, that could predict birds’ flight patterns. It’s an apt name for a duo who use outdated technology to create surprisingly natural forms.
They have now released three albums as BRRDS: Underneath The Jetstream (2024); Soon Comes Forever (2023) and LIM IN AL SP ACE (2021), and have racked up releases on more than ten labels throughout their musical careers. They record in their home studio near Cardiff in South Wales; a barn full of wheezing synths, creaking computers, and masking-taped drum machines.
