Camp Kona is a Japanese-American alternative R&B artist based in Tokyo. As a self-proclaimed choir kid, she incorporates the layered vocal arrangements and lush harmonies she fell in love with at a young age, throughout her music. Kona captures adolescence and fireside nights at summer camp, inspired by her years as a camper at sleep away camp.
With the release of her debut single “Homesick” in 2020, Kona broke into the indie music sphere with force, amassing over 300,000 streams and getting placements on editorial playlists like Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds: R&B, and ‘fit check, and 2022 single “Second Tattoo” was placed on Fresh Finds: Pop.
Being a third culture kid, Kona leverages her bi-cultural identity to create more space for Asian Americans in music. Her single, “Rely On (頼らない)” features a blend of Japanese and English lyrics about the power of being independent.
