Caravela play original music that draws from the communal traditions of Lusophone countries like Brazil, Portugal and Cape Verde, with an approach encompassing contemporary grooves and improvisation. Their debut full length LP ‘Orla’ is an intoxicating mix of Afro-Brazilian rhythms, contemporary London jazz drenched and progressive textures. Their charismatic live show has earned a strong following thanks to a string of great performances at venues like London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush (supporting Gilberto Gil), BBC Late Proms and EFG London Jazz Festival, alongside three successful tours of their debut EP in the UK, Europe and Salvador da Bahia.
