Cardboard Box is an anonymous artist from the Washington, DC area. He now resides in Los Angeles, CA.
In 2014, CB started working in music as a producer, primarily focusing on hip-hop, R&B, and lo-fi, as well as some electronic. It wasn't until late 2017 that he started experimenting as a vocalist. With nothing to lose and hopes of introducing a new type of sound to audiences, he released his debut project "Tape 1".
The project was received extremely well among his initially small fanbase, and with zero paid promotion and before the era of TikToks and virality, just by word-of-mouth, it quickly spread and accumulated hundreds of thousands of streams. Standout tracks were "Golden Sand" and "Just Might".
In the following months, Box continued working and eventually released his second project, "Tape 2", which was also received extremely well. Tape 2's fan-favorites are "Slide Through" and "Just a Game". The project resulted in social-media shoutouts from the likes of Soulja Boy, and collaborations with standout artists such as Grammy-winner Vory.
Since, he has worked steadily but released music more elusively, putting out singles such as "Pressure" and "Read My Mind", which both received millions of streams across platforms. Still to date, he's done this without a label or manager. His eagerly awaited project "Tape 3" is to come in 2023.
