Carla Geneve writes with a raw honesty, unfiltered and luminous in its depth. Hailing from Albany, Western Australia, Geneve crafts songs that expose the ache of lived experience, and the quiet force of survival.

Her second album Hertz is a concept record born from stillness, deep introspection, and the jolting clarity that followed her diagnosis of bipolar disorder. Structured to echo the peaks and valleys of a mood cycle, Hertz traces a visceral arc through high wire euphoria, disquieting lows, and everything in between. “Understanding the implications of that diagnosis is a big part of this album,” she explains. “It’s the most vulnerable I’ve ever been.”

Geneve first turned heads with Learn To Like It, her AMP nominated debut that coincided with a world shutting down. In the quiet that followed, she recalibrated. She honed a voice that is both unguarded and unapologetic. Her lyrics are surgical in their honesty, set against soundscapes that ripple with alt pop warmth, raw guitar textures, and haunting vocal melodies.

Carla Geneve is a Vanda and Young Global Songwriting Prize recipient, and a live powerhouse who has shared stages with Cat Power, Kurt Vile, Belle and Sebastian, Julia Jacklin, and most recently Tyler Childers during his 2025 Australian tour.
