Growing up in the surf town of Margaret River in Western Australia, Rowena Wise has been surrounded by music since birth. Touring in a family band - her mother a folk musician from Chicago and her father a luthier who builds custom guitars - meant that Rowena's deep love for music was distilled from a young age. Now based in Melbourne and with a burgeoning reputation as a live performer, she’s working towards a new album that should see her music travel far beyond her homeland.
Inspired by the strong storytelling sensibilities of 60s folk icons, Rowena is a sharp lyricist who finds truths in fiction, writing with a newfound sense of honesty, holding space for all of life’s beauty and messiness. Best filed as indie rock, garage pop and alt-folk, alongside the storied likes of Aldous Harding, Courtney Barnett, Julie Byrne and Julia Jacklin, Rowena’s a real talent to keep an eye on.
Signed to Beloved Recordings (AU) and Dalliance Recordings (ROW).
