Carmela Visone nació en Alemania. De madre española y padre italiano se crió bajo el calor de una familia del sur de Italia que emigró a Alemania durante la crisis de los años 60. Desde muy pequeña se vio influenciada por la música tradicional napolitana que siempre estuvo presente en la vida familiar. Por otro lado, su madre solía escuchar música afroamericana procedente de las bases militares norteamericanas instaladas en el país. Este cruce de culturas fue lo que forjó en ella una marcada vocación de mestizaje musical.
