Casm

Casm is an atmospheric/depressive black metal band with members in the US. It started in 2019 as a solo project of Lord Enochiam. Under "Arctic Grail", he played a pretty standard black metal style. After a name change and some new recruits (Thomas Roach (Satan Destroyer) ), the band found their true identity starting with their next release, 2024's "When Is the End of Summer?" Building on the first EP, the new material reaches deeper into the band's hearts and brings a much more heartfelt and despairing sound.

Dreary, introspective, hazy riffs envlop the listener, like a cold rainy day. But while moody and atmospheric, the band keeps more than enough of the icy, raw edge black metal is known for, even their slower moments carrying a sincerity and a sense of struggle that few other bands can articulate. Fans of Xasthur, Strid, Within Thy Wounds, Nocturnal Depression, Thy Light, or Morkerod should definitely take note.
