Cast Iron Shoes

Cast Iron Shoes is a fiddle-driven swampy bluegrass band from Texas helmed by fiddle player & songwriter Nicole Ridgwell, who writes songs for people who are starting over.

If one were to invent a story about Ridgwell, it would be her song Don’t Let Me Go Back, with its sense of exile from a small town, the shame of returning. She's got a full-throated voice, and is not afraid to push it to her limits.

Raised in the west, Ridgwell’s songwriting shares roots with her mother’s folk and her father’s blues influences.

Cast Iron Shoes is now a revolving door of regional talent, with Ridgwell recruiting dear friends, her favorite songwriters, and Austin’s most dexterous musicians to play in her band & help her create Cast Iron Shoes’ must-see live performance: An energized retro sound, brilliant songwriting, fantastic musicianship, and original songs that speak to the heart of the underdog.
