Founded in the heart of Springfield, Missouri, Catalina’s eclectic influences convened into a unified sound in April of 2020. Pulling from alternative, midwest emo, pop-punk, and indie rock influences, Lennon Rauhoff, Maguire Kelly, and Ethan Miller began their jam sessions in a suburban garage on Catalina Avenue.
From house-shows to large venues, Catalina developed a cult-following in their hometown, characterizing them as one of Springfield’s cultural landmarks and catapulting them forwards in their young careers. Their performances range from pop-punk jams to melancholy ballads, culminating in the release of their first single, James. Their music is wrenchingly candid and warmingly genuine, reflective of their stories, personalities, and musical ethos.
In July of 2021, the band replaced their bassist with local singer/songwriter Spencer Tice, where his indie, funk, and Mayer-type influences showed on the bass. However, recently, Spencer has made the switch to his native instrument, playing lead guitar. The band also switched things up and added Patrick Sweet from the local metal group Vulgarity to fill the role of bass, which began a new era of the group; both personally and sonically.
