Caves began writing songs during the summer of 2013, and creating demos for what would later become their debut record. Long time friends, Josh McCabe, and Matt Shaban began this new music endeavour as a creative outlet for the two, to tell a story. The story of Caves was birthed during a difficult season for Josh, and served as a way for him to tell a story of hope and redemption, in the midst of uncertainty. "For the first time, I wrote songs, and music just because I liked it, and didn't limit myself to one sound or style that I was used to," says McCabe about their debut record. Merging worship with rock, and some southern influences, Caves is telling a story, and the story has yet to be finished.
