Celestial Death formed in 2024 out of Atlanta, GA. Founding guitarist and vocalist, Forrest Bradford Jessup was born and raised in downtown Atlanta, cutting his teeth in a cutthroat music scene - aka Hate City. Forrest started booking his own shows, and building his own fanbase at 15 years old in downtown Atlanta. While the current form of Celestial Death fits within a melodic, blackened death sound - being from Atlanta, with diverse musical backgrounds - the band as a collective has many different inspirations and influences. Those range from more direct connections such as Behemoth, Wolves in the Throne Room, to other bands like Fallujah, Mastodon, Defeater, Death (Chuck Schuldiner), Cannibal Corpse, and more. We stay true to the underground, DIY spirit that black metal is known for - our drummer, Matthew Carmichael, having recorded, mixed, and mastered all tracks released thus far. The musical ingredients for blackened death fans are there: tremolo picked chord progressions and dissonant arpeggios, mixed with machine gun-like blast beats backed by pure death metal riffs… Whatever kind of heavy metal you call us, we work to put out viciously heavy shit that moves the body and soul. Additionally, Forrest is the founder/ owner of Terminus Hate City, which is an Atlanta based, underground record label, and works with artists all over the south and east coast of the US.
