Honesty is the best policy as far as this Kentucky Indie Rock trio is concerned. Formed in 2019, CENTER of a TENSION is a family band comprised of brothers Chase and Brandon and cousin Evan. Known locally for their upbeat music and high-energy performances, a close listen to their songs reveals a heartfelt, inquisitive nature deftly conveyed in candidly hopeful lyrics. Their raucous guitar-driven songs are trussed with themes of faith, doubt, religious trauma, and eternal anticipation.
Since the release of their debut single Ride the Storm, they’ve been compared to alternative heavyweights such as The Band CAMINO, Judah & the Lion, and even alt-rock legends Rage Against The Machine. Ride the Storm was later given a siren-laden remix by Colony House drummer Will Franklin Chapman.
Their heart-on-sleeve approach displays its purest form on their suicide prevention anthem I Wish I Could Show You. Profits from the song along with a special merchandise campaign fundraiser pulled in hundreds of dollars to support mental health services through the organization To Write Love on Her Arms (@twloha).
“This song came from a dark place after we lost a family member to suicide, and were looking for words that would honor his memory, but also hopefully convince someone else their life is worth living. That became why we make music.”
