Chamber Choir FORTIUS (Riga, Latvia)
Chamber choir Fortius was founded in 1985. The founder, chief conductor and the artistic leader of the choir is Professor at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Music Academy Dr. Māra Marnauza. She is chief conductor at the XXV and XXVI Latvian Song and Dance Festival, at the Baltic States’ Student Song Festival Gaudeamus, artistic leader of the female choir Balta.
FORTIUS has successfully participated in several master classes, toured abroad as well as participated in numerous festivals and gained prizes in international choir competitions (USA, Norway, Austria, Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, Estonia, Great Britain, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Spain, Belgium).
The repertoire of the choir comprises Latvian classical and contemporary music, Latvian folk music, and sacred music, music of various styles and periods, from Renaissance to Jazz.
