Charles Howl

Charles Howl is the solo project of Berlin-based musician and filmmaker Danny Nellis. He started his journey back in 2013 with a self-titled five track garage-surf-punk EP, later followed by his first album ‘Sir Vices’ and an extensive period of touring across the UK and Internationally. His discography was then joined by 2017’s album ‘My Idol Family’ - showcasing the first true emergence of songwriting flair. His latest series (Currently unreleased) is a true snapshot of Howl emerging as a figurehead no longer behind the web of instrumental, but standing in front of it.

His sound wriggles and oozes through layers of synth, vocal and instrumental, accompanied by visuals shot by Howl himself. The meandering verse consists of lines that are simple on their own yet when all heard together create a little puzzle for the listener - structured in such a way that they never completely repeat.

Howl has not only built up an impressive repertoire of music but of achievements too, including numerous extensive tours of both the UK and Europe, festival appearances and several independent label backed album releases. He has also been continuously supported by Marc Riley on his BBC6 show and Howl played several live sessions for him, including a set at the prestigious Maida Vale studios.
