Charlie Bennett is a 25-year-old bedroom pop artist from Birmingham. Inspired by Dayglow and Beabadoobee, he began releasing music in late 2020 after teaching himself to record and produce from his bedroom during lockdown. A self-declared “bedroom pop artist,” Bennett is drawn to the genre’s creativity-first ethos - making music with whatever gear you have and opting out of the industry’s reliance on traditional studio spaces.
That DIY approach proved itself with his breakout track Is This Falling?, which has amassed over 6 million streams. Recorded using a £20 microphone and an iPhone, the song led to his debut EP Duvet Days - aptly named after soundproofing his room with bedding while recording.
After a meeting with an industry professional questioned his approach, Bennett chose to double down, fully embracing bedroom recording on his EP Poster Boy. The project surpassed 100,000 streams in its first month, reinforcing his belief in making music on his own terms. That ethos now underpins everything he’s building heading into 2026. With a community of over 500,000 listeners known as the “Strawbennetts”, Bennett shows no signs of slowing down.
