Cheap Date are an energetic group of talented larrikins navigating their way through their own youth and the emotional chaos that comes with it.

Possessing a strong handle on emotional nuance and a varied blend of musical influences, Cheap Date have been making quite a name for themselves on stages across Australia.

With an image that initially screams 80’s nostalgia, the band are so much more than another whack on the overbeaten drum of sex drugs and rock and roll. A strong theme of gender equality and queer inclusiveness can be heard through leading lady Lara Dee’s eloquent songwriting.

Working the sounds of 90’s pop rock into the beloved indie genre, expect nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster and lyrical euphoria, and an insatiable yearning for more.

Cheap Date are so much more than a bunch of mates with levelled ambition and hunger for good music, they are a (somewhat dysfunctional) family.

Lara Dee openly identifies as a member of the lgbtq+ community and strives to establish a safe space for all listeners and support anyone experiencing a similar journey to her own. The four lads by her side are Harry, Brian, Flynn and Will, a group of cheeky chaps with hearts bigger than they are willing to admit.

Throw a queer female amongst four cis straight males and you have a recipe for…harmonious creation. That is the narrative Cheap Date aim to construct through music. Proving that communities can unite not only in a social setting, but a creative one.
