Somewhere between Jay Z’s articulate and André 3000’s potent lay the infectious wordplay of Cheeno Ghee. Based in Charlotte, NC, the emcee also known as Tha Godchild, has garnered both the respect of her peers and some of Hip Hop’s icons. She credits her melodic style and low frequency rhythms to her Atlanta upbringing, while her tone and lyricism doubtlessly reflect her youth in Brooklyn, New York. Truly a product of her environment and her faith, Cheeno possesses an influence that has at times, been well beyond her own understanding. But one thing’s for sure — “what I’m manifesting has only appeared when my intentions and God’s will aligned. From the release of my first EP to my last breath doing this, I’ll know it was His plan for me and it happened organically,” says Cheeno.
