Hailing from San Marcos, TX, Cheer Up Cheer Up is a dynamic 5-piece rock project that balances fuzz-laden guitars and discordant psychedelic tonalities with lyricism steeped in a folk tradition. Scaffolded on songwriter Ryan McGillicuddy’s evocative compositions, the band oscillates between quiet and clamor with the support of a driving rhythm section, heavily saturated lead guitar, haunting but melodic keys, and the occasional horn arrangement. Their debut album, Echolalia, was released in late 2023.
