Şevket Dirican, known professionally as Chefket, is a German artist of Turkish descent. Born in a small town, Chefket moved to Berlin to explore whether a career in the arts was his true calling. Arriving with just €200 in his pocket, he initially worked as a bartender to make ends meet. What was intended to be a one-year stint has now stretched into 18 years, during which he has crafted songs in both German and Turkish.
Chefket's breakthrough came with his Top-Ten album, "Nachtmensch," which earned him acclaim as the first conscious rapper with Turkish roots. Straddling two cultures, he builds bridges between them, always staying true to the spirit of hip-hop.
