Small hands, big heart

Cherub Hands is a solo act composed of singer-songwriter Kate Dorff, and their two baby-sized hands. In the past, Kate had always reserved songwriting as a personal and non-disclosed form of therapy. More recently, they have discovered the value of sharing these stories as if they are reading their diary out loud.

Kate started playing guitar at the age of 10 when they were determined to learn Taylor Swift's entire discography. They cite Swift’s lyrical storytelling method as a major influence in their own writing. Kate’s other present-day influences include acts such as Phoebe Bridgers, Conor Oberst, Clairo, and Adrianne Lenker.

Choosing a genre is difficult so Kate classifies their music under the umbrella of, “simp-like tendencies that inspire melancholic tunes.” In their debut single, “Red Light Room,” Kate employs a string of highly specific memories to tell a story of heartbreak. “Two steps forward, but I fell through the floor of your red light room” - a testament to falling in and out of love with someone who has TikTok lights hanging in their bedroom.

A lineup of new singles and an upcoming EP from Cherub Hands is scheduled for 2022.
