Chicago native Chris Medina rose to fame in 2011 after his powerful participation in the world-renowned singing competition show, American Idol. With a touching backstory and a genuine will, Medina was instantly a household name overnight.

Inspired by this journey, producer Rodney Jerkins, known professionally as Darkchild, along with songwriters Lauren Christy and Andre Lindal, beautifully crafted “What Are Words,” Medina’s debut single. The somber ballad dedicated to his then-fiancé, broke into the Billboard Hot 100 chart, landing at the #69 spot. It also held the #1 spot in a handful of other countries for several months, earning it multi-platinum status worldwide.

In 2012, Medina teamed up with Eccentric Records. Under the guidance of producer David Eriksen and hit songwriter Simon Climie, Medina released What Are Words, his first full-length album, which featured the repackaged #1 hit. The album earned Gold status in Norway and Sweden.

Medina stepped away from the music industry, hoping to create an opportunity to rebrand and develop his songwriting; spending the better part of three years working with the industry’s best.

In 2018, Chris would again team up with Lauren Christy and Andre Lindal, along with rising star producer Fede Vindver, returning to the music industry with “Cut Me,” his best single since his debut. In a short time, “Cut Me” managed to gain traction, finding its way onto major playlists and into the hearts of Medina’s dedicated fans.
