Espen Lind is an award-winning songwriter, producer, and recording artist, and one of the most influential figures in Norwegian pop music. He rose to fame in the late 1990s with When Susannah Cries, a ballad that topped charts across Europe and became a timeless classic. His breakthrough album Red sold over 600,000 copies worldwide and earned him the Spellemannprisen for Artist of the Year.
Lind went on to co-write global hits such as Beyoncé’s Irreplaceable (Billboard #1 for ten weeks) and Train’s Hey, Soul Sister, one of the best-selling singles of the 2010s.
His writing and production credits include Taylor Swift, Lionel Richie, Jennifer Hudson, Ne-Yo, and Mark Owen of Take That. In Norway, he has worked with Sissel Kyrkjebø, Ingebjørg Bratland, Kurt Nilsen, and Vamp – whose Liten fuggel was the country’s best-selling album in 2012.
In 2025, Lind composed the original score for NRK’s critically acclaimed drama Rekviem for Selina.
