"To me, he’s a musician’s musician because his music feels both simple and disarmingly complex at the same time." -William Wayland, Static & Blur
“…the musical equivalent of California cuisine.” -Nate Seltenrich, East Bay Express
"Chris Peck is a singular artist." -Evan Karp, KQED
"I’ve never heard anything quite like it." Paul Liberatore, Marin Independent Journal
Chris Peck has been writing and recording since his first cassette in 1994. Long-known as Peck the Town Crier, he released a string of left-field songs and videos between 2006 and 2012. But beginning with his 2019 album "Ancient Baby", Peck began to perform under his given name and drill down into a simpler, more earthy sound.
His most recent album, "Exact Change" is a collection of 12 new songs, recorded live and solo. Produced and engineered by longtime cohorts Miles Wick and Alex-Rather Taylor, "Exact Change" was tracked to a DSD recorder, a method which allows no edits or overdubs. The songs deal with lyrical themes like friendship, finances and the last supper. If you've ever caught a solo show by Peck and wished that you could take the music home, this album is for you.
