Christian Kunert

Christian Kunert's first serious encounter with classical music was the piano. Soon followed by the bassoon. A musical success story begins, the first highlight of which consists of four first prizes at “Jugend musiziert” – comprising the categories bassoon quartet and bassoon solo. In 2007 he received the renowned Hamburg Eduard Söring Prize and in 2008 he won the ARD prize for bassoon with an additional audience prize.

After studying piano with <a href="spotify:artist:0OCB739kEu37yjT5VBLPEW" data-name="Bernd Glemser">Bernd Glemser</a> and bassoon with <a href="spotify:artist:0L3f7bSVYEc5P2l1ZT1tOd" data-name="Albrecht Holder">Albrecht Holder</a> in Würzburg, he worked as solo bassoonist at the Hamburg State Opera for 14 years. In addition, his musical personality developed through guest appearances with conductors such as <a href="spotify:artist:11MHwZdr4rDmsgFij2SzWB" data-name="Gerd Albrecht">Gerd Albrecht</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:78sEozQOEJxzXegUuqRSgH" data-name="Daniel Barenboim">Daniel Barenboim</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0xfOM47aJ8EcFX7T6Ugr9W" data-name="Christoph Eschenbach">Christoph Eschenbach</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1W6Wgt9XFyQBHRhqkdy2GB" data-name="Bernhard Klee">Bernhard Klee</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3A1vrMIPmjCGdfN3WB2SkT" data-name="Nicola Luisotti">Nicola Luisotti</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:37Lr1lIJy824MQIENRUnZn" data-name="Kurt Masur">Kurt Masur</a>. In 2010 Christian Kunert acquired a professorship for bassoon at the &#34;Hochschule für Musik und Theater&#34; (HfMT) in Hamburg. He continues to appear as a sought-after solo bassoonist as well as a renowned conductor.

Today Christian Kunert is an internationally renowned bassoon virtuoso. His fascination by the works of <a href="spotify:artist:4NJhFmfw43RLBLjQvxDuRS" data-name="Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart">Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1JOQXgYdQV2yfrhewqx96o" data-name="Giuseppe Verdi">Giuseppe Verdi</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6pAwHPeExeUbMd5w7Iny6D" data-name="Richard Strauss">Richard Strauss</a>, related to opera is met by the works of <a href="spotify:artist:2ANtgfhQkKpsW6EYSDqldz" data-name="Gustav Mahler">Gustav Mahler</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:2bM3j1JQWBkmzuoZKu4zj2" data-name="Anton Bruckner">Anton Bruckner</a> in classical symphonies. What remains important for him are technical skills. He views them as the fundamental key of expressing the deeper meaning of compositions.
