You know Christopher Ward’s music. You’ve heard it sung by Amanda Marshall, Colin James, The Backstreet Boys, Diana Ross and others. But maybe there’s another way to hear it. HIs biggest his Black Velvet by Alannah Myles was just inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame! A song that Kelly Clarkson, Melissa Etheridge and The Masked Singer have covered, along with a parade of hopefuls on “American Idol” and “The Voice”? You may have heard “Same River Twice” , a solo album that Christopher released last year including his own version of Black Velvet.
Christopher Ward started his working life out on a guitar and in a notebook a half century ago. The career really kicked off with his debut solo album on Warner “Spark of Desire”
That album produced by Jack Richardson was unavailable on streaming services until now!
Remastered and re-released by the dynamic duo who wrote the record. Stephen Stohn and Christopher Ward with a little help from Warner Canada.

Ward has covered a lot of ground through the years as a recording artist in the 70’s, Canadian television icon in the 80s at MuchMusic, and a hit songwriter in the 90’s. Throw in 3 novels and “Is This Live”, a chronicle of the early years at Much.

We are going back to 1978 with this release and the songs still sound fresh, the horns of the Brecker Brothers still cut through and Steve Ferrone is still keeping the beat.
