The French group Circus was formed in early 2012 by a group of well-established solo artists including bassist and harmonica player Calogero, pianist and organist Stanislas, violinist Karen Brunon, and guitarists Elsa Fourlon and Philippe Uminski. All of its members are notable singers. The band's music combines pop, chanson, rock, and circus music. The group's first single, the digitally released "Sur un Fil" (On a Wire), went to radio and download in June of 2012, followed by a self-titled album in November. The album's songs were written by elite French songwriters including Grammy-winner Jean-Jacques Goldman, Dominique Ané (aka Dominique A), Marc Lavoine, and Marie Bastide, and were based on, you guessed it, circus themes. ~ Thom Jurek, Rovi
