Close The Distance is an Alternative Pop band from Honolulu, Hawaii. The group features sisters, Kira (lead guitar/vocals) and Ezri (bass/vocals) Santos, and Payton Sekigawa (drums). Close The Distance made their way into the Honolulu music scene in the Spring of 2018 after the members decided to retire their previous band name (EMKE) following the departure of their longtime band member and friend.
"It was difficult saying goodbye to something we had been for such a long time. But change is a part of growing older, and we know that we're ready to take on this next stage in our lives"
While under their previous band name, the trio had the opportunity to open for huge acts such as Billy Ray Cyrus, Kansas, Switchfoot, ONEREPUBLIC, and Halestorm while also receiving invitations to appear at the music industries’ prestigious NAMM Show in Los Angeles, CA to perform with artists such as Andy Mckee and Journey’s Neal Schon. As a result of their LA concerts, the band was awarded a musical endorsement by Yamaha Music Corporation of America.
Close The Distance was the name the power trio had settled on after much debate, choosing to be named in honor of their favorite band, Go Radio.
"We were randomly listening to the commentary of Go Radio's album, and something just clicked. The story behind that particular track perfectly described what we were going through at the time. The words were so hauntingly accurate... But it was exactly what we had been searching for."
