Raised in outback Roma, QLD, CNTRL is a man with a firm belief; that control of self and soul, can nurture prosperity for himself and others around him. Hip-hop found CNTRL at a young age, and from the moment the culture touched his heart he knew exactly what he wanted out of life.
Inspired by the vivid storytelling of Nas, the authentic soul of Big K.R.I.T. and the unrestrained voice of Denzel Curry, the unlimited possibilities of Rap music became very apparent to CNTRL, so he began to write. CNTRL grew to understand what Hip-Hop truly was about: giving a voice to those who never felt heard, a voice they could use to take control of their lives. That word, ‘Control’ was one that only made sense as his artistic identity. Hip-Hop was an opportunity for him to not only find his authentic voice, but take control of his destiny.
CNTRL’s music is all about freedom of expression, speaking from the heart and the soul while still remaining focused on being a standout lyricist and an energetic performer. Above all else, CNTRL wants to be an inspiration to others, a voice for those who have none and a helping hand to the people who are down on their luck. He wants to be to his fans, what Hip-Hop was to him: hope.
