After leaving Hero In Danger, a cover band from his student days, Phuc (vocals, guitar) formed a new band with bassist Quoc and drummer Cuong to play his first original compositions in 2007. The birth of COCC, as the band name, took place in Saigon, and their breakthrough came with a debut concert in December 2010, earning them recognition across Vietnam. Outside the mainstream Vietnamese music scene, COCC has maintained a sharp energy and a spirit of resistance through 17 years of playing indie rock, infused with elements of art rock and influences from Vietnamese indigenous music. COCC's lyrics blend social commentary with poetic verses, while their music features loud, jagged sounds and an atmosphere that is both frustrating and melancholic.
