Ottawa’s Cody Coyote is of Ojibwe/Irish descent with ancestry from Matachewan First Nation. With his fusion of strong, profound lyricism accompanied by corresponding influential sounds such as his song “There Tonight”, this multi-award nominated, and award winning Hip-Hop/Electronic/Pop artist commands his listeners’ attention by delivering mesmerizing performances.

Coyote’s newest single, Anguish (January 5, 2024) shares a very personal journey of lived experiences and focuses on suicide awareness.

“Overcoming moments of anguish have lead to me to growth, healing and positive change within. This new release is by far one of the most personal songs I have made and I’m prepared to speak up about the meaning behind it.” says Coyote. “Having my own thoughts of suicide earlier in my life, losing one of my close friends to suicide and seeing how it has affected many people were all contributing factors in writing this. I revisited a dark place for this song and I honestly feel that I wouldn’t be here had it not been for putting myself in psychotherapy in 2018.”

With recognition for creating positive change in the world, this dedicated artist won the award for Ottawa's Best Hip-Hop Artist at the 2023 Ottawa Awards hosted by FACES Magazine, CTV and Mattamy Homes Canada. Previous to that he had reached number 1 on the Indigenous Music Countdown with "There Tonight" in August 2022.
