"One of Canada's premiere songwriters. With a voice like a clarion call she's one of our premiere singers, too." - Judith Lynch, CBC’s First Play
With versatile songs and a voice akin to Joni Mitchell, Brown effortlessly weaves elements of folk, roots and pop into a striking, sublime blend. Her previous, full-length solo album ‘Direction’, co-produced by Joel Plaskett, saw Brown topping Canadian college radio charts and touring at home and in Germany and the UK.
Her rock-band side project Major Love - formed with fellow Edmontonians Scenic Route To Alaska while overseas on that first UK tour - released their debut album on Cowboy Junkies' imprint Latent Recordings in August 2018, with 2 singles in the CBC Radio 2 Top 20 and 13 weeks in the Top 50 earshot! charts.
Colleen continues to be a beloved live performer, having won over audiences opening for Randy Newman, Jim Cuddy, Rufus Wainwright, Crash Test Dummies, Whitehorse, Frank Black, Kathleen Edwards, Sarah Harmer, Buck 65, Sarah Slean and Hawksley Workman, among others. She has performed at festivals across Canada including Sixshooter Records' Interstellar Rodeo, Salmon Arm Roots & Blues, and the Edmonton Folk Music Festival.
"The rare vocalist that impresses equally on vibrant soul and quiet folk...travelling in Brown's Direction is one very pleasing trek."
