South London’s Confucius MC is a unique voice, rising above the noise and cutting through the clichéd conversations. The son of a Irish/British teacher and a Grenadian musician, the young Con fell upon the teachings of his namesake - the Chinese philosopher Confucius - after becoming enamoured with the movies of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and the like. After buying Wu Tang Clan’s iconic ’36 Chambers’ album with his high school work experience money the seed was planted. But it wasn’t until he heard A Tribe Called Quest’s Dilla-produced ‘Beats, Rhymes & Life’ that his own unique brand of lyricism began to blossom.
Confucius has been active in the London hip-hop scene for several years, garnering praise as one half of duo CoN & KwAkE alongside drummer Kwake Bass; supporting the likes of Mos Def , Public Enemy, Slum Village, Black Milk, Jehst and Kae Tempest to name a few.
Confucius's debut release ‘The Highest Order’ (YNR Productions) firmly established Confucius MC as one of London’s emerging new talents and His latest release 'The Artform' (WeStayTrue) has received acclaim throughout the global hip hop community - further cementing the rapper's reputation as one of UK Hip Hop's elite lyricists.
