Connie Converse: a quintessential singer-songwriter, virtually unknown in her own time.

A self-taught guitarist, Connie wrote her own ballads and art songs in the era of traditional folk repertoire and splashy songbooks. She performed at house parties and recorded herself on reel-to-reel, sending these self-made tapes to her friends and family through the 1950s and early 1960s. During this time, Connie cheekily claimed world-renown by “dozens of people.” Since her 2009 public debut via “How Sad, How Lovely,” a compilation of her tapes, that number has increased exponentially—a remarkable feat for an overlooked artist who disappeared (quite literally, without a trace) in August, 1974.

The Connie Converse catalog is managed by How Sad, How Lovely co-producer, Dan Dzula through his label, The Musick Group (Heroic Cities LLC).
